In her new role, Ms. Girouard will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the organization’s internal policies and guidelines. She will act as a resource for management and the various departments on regulatory and compliance issues while representing UV Insurance with the regulators and on different committees of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.
Ms. Girouard holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Université de Sherbrooke. She also studied insurance risk management at Université Laval and is currently completing a graduate microrogram in business administration – Strategic Project Management. Furthermore, she is in the process of obtaining her certification as personal information protection officer from Université de Sherbrooke. She has been with UV Insurance since 2018 and prior to this appointment worked as a legal analyst in compliance.
At age 27, Ms. Girouard becomes one of the youngest chief compliance officers in the Canadian insurance industry—a testament to the value that UV Insurance places on developing young talent. “We believe in the potential of young people and the dynamics they bring to key positions within organizations. With her ambitions and strong sense of discipline, Joëlle is the perfect example of a committed, motivated and highly competent new generation of women,” adds Christian Mercier, Chief Executive Officer of UV Insurance.
In addition to her duties at UV Insurance, Ms. Girouard has been actively involved in the Drummondville community, notably as vice-chair of the board of directors of the Fondation du Cégep de Drummondville since 2021. She also volunteers on the recruitment committee and member services of the Jeune Chambre de Drummond.
Ms. Girouard’s appointment takes effect on March 6, 2023.
