Drummondville, June 4, 2019 – UL Mutual officially broke ground today, thereby inaugurating the construction work for its new head office in Drummondville.
The event took place in the presence of the Mayor of Drummondville, dignitaries, suppliers and officers of UL Mutual on the land of the future head office along Highway 20. This year is indicative of a major shift for UL Mutual as the company is increasing its presence in the Canadian market with its insurance products, in addition to upgrading its technology systems.
“This is without a doubt a landmark year in our history and so we have decided to give ourselves the means to match our ambitions with a brand-new work environment that will meet our growing needs,” stated Mr. Christian Mercier, Chief Executive Officer of UL Mutual. The new five-storey building will be equipped with modern facilities for the greater benefit of the company’s 170 employees. “It gives me great pride to provide our employees with a select work environment where health and well-being will be put forward,” he added. As a matter of fact, the building will provide open spaces, a large cafeteria, a gym and a room for group classes, state-of-the-art workstations, as well as a short outdoor walking trail. A space will also be designed to display various artifacts, documents and photographs that are part of the company’s rich heritage since its foundation in 1889.
Strongly committed to the Drummondville community for nearly 130 years, UL Mutual has surrounded itself with local experts to ensure the successful completion of this major project, including Construction Bertrand-Dionne, the architectural firm Un à Un, the engineering firm Larocque Cournoyer, the Société d’histoire de Drummond and BGesPro Project Management.
As workers have already started on the site, the construction work will go on for just over a year with a delivery date scheduled for the summer of 2020.
