While the entire team is very excited about moving into the new modern offices, where the focus will be health and wellness, only a handful of staff members have access at this time. “Everyone is thrilled about this new chapter for our mutual,” explained Christian Mercier, the Chief Executive Officer. The current health crisis prevents us from taking full advantage of our new building, but it’s our duty to remain a responsible employer by keeping the majority of our employees working from home until the end of the summer. We will use this opportunity to fine-tune our new facilities, and we’ll be sure to celebrate the occasion with our employees and partners when the time is right.”
There are still a few things to do before work is officially completed, including the exterior design, which will wrap up shortly. In order to preserve the memory of the former head office that sat on Heriot Street for over a century, a portion of the old fieldstone foundation will be used in the new location’s landscaping. “This initiative, combined with the creation of a new museum space in the entrance hall, will help preserve the historic heritage of UV Insurance,” added Mr. Mercier.
During the moving process, UV Insurance made furniture donations valued at over $100,000 to local organizations. The downtown offices are now vacant, and their sale should be finalized this fall. UV Insurance will leave it up to the new owner of the premises at 142 Rue Heriot to announce its intentions in due time.
